FAQ

After the VenaSealMC procedure, it's important to watch for signs that could indicate complications, such as an allergic reaction, inflammation, phlebitis, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), or pulmonary embolism. While bruising is common, it is usually mild and temporary. It is recommended to discuss the risks and benefits of the procedure with your physician.

The VenaSealMC procedure involves applying a small amount of specially formulated medical adhesive to seal and close the diseased vein, redirecting blood flow to nearby healthy veins and relieving symptoms.
  • Step 1: Inserting the catheter into the vein Using ultrasound guidance, the physician positions a catheter into the diseased vein through a small access point.
  • Step 2: Delivering the medical adhesive A specially formulated medical adhesive is delivered into the diseased vein through the catheter.
  • Step 3: Applying gentle external pressure Light external pressure is applied to the leg to bond the vein walls together. This step is repeated along the length of the vein.
  • Step 4: Removing the catheter The catheter is removed, and an adhesive bandage is placed over the vein access site.
Only a very small amount of adhesive is used during the VenaSealMC procedure to close the vein. Over time, your body naturally forms scar tissue around the adhesive, which helps keep the vein permanently sealed.
