After the Treatment

Baths and Showers

  • Prefer lukewarm baths and showers. Avoid very hot baths and spas for 4 days following the treatment.

Compression Stockings

  • Unless otherwise instructed, wearing compression stockings is recommended for 7 days.
  • Wear your compression stockings every day during the day.
  • Put on your stockings as soon as possible in the morning. They will be easier to put on and more comfortable to wear throughout the day.
Keep your feet warm. This will promote good circulation.

Dressing (Diachylons)

  • If there are any dressings, they can be removed one hour after the procedure.

Exercise

  • Take a 15-minute walk after the treatment. Stay active in the hours and days following.
  • Walk as much as possible.
  • Take the stairs.
  • Make sure to get up and stretch, walk, or move your feet for 5 minutes every hour.
  • Do cycling movements with your feet while lying on your back.

Massage

  • Use appropriate ointments, gels, or creams.

Air Travel

  • It’s best to avoid air travel within 2 weeks following a treatment. If you must fly during this time, make sure to wear compression stockings, move around, and if possible, get up and walk during the flight.

Sitting Position

  • When sitting, you can elevate your legs on a stool.

FAQ

Almost all varicose veins, from large dilated veins to small broken veins. Larger varicose veins can be treated with ultrasound-guided injections. In more severe cases, the VenaSeal™ tissue glue procedure or endovenous laser treatment may be necessary. Smaller broken veins can be treated with sclerotherapy (saline solution injections).
The number of sessions needed to achieve the desired results varies from patient to patient. On average, between six and eight sessions are sufficient for good results. Some patients may need two to three sessions, while others may require up to fifteen sessions or more, depending on the severity of the varicose veins. Each session lasts approximately 15 minutes.
After sclerotherapy treatment, temporary side effects such as redness or bruising may occur. It is recommended to avoid sun exposure and wear compression stockings. In case of pain or small red bumps, apply ice for a few minutes every hour if possible. If you have no allergies to anti-inflammatory medications, ibuprofen (e.g., Advil) may help reduce discomfort. If swelling or unusual pain occurs, please contact us immediately.
Varicose veins are a hereditary and progressive condition, and you will develop varicose veins throughout your life. A follow-up every 6 months is recommended to maintain control of the condition, treat new varicose veins if needed, and preserve the appearance of your legs.
Sclerotherapy treatment is generally well tolerated. The injections cause a mild sensation, often compared to a mosquito bite, and may cause slight discomfort, which quickly disappears.
