What to Do After Your Treatment?

During your treatment, please inform the staff of any changes in your health or activities that may be relevant to your treatment.
Before the Treatment
The sclerotherapy treatment requires no special preparation from the patient.
After the Treatment
Baths and Showers
- Prefer lukewarm baths and showers. Avoid very hot baths and spas for 4 days following the treatment.
Compression Stockings
- Unless otherwise instructed, wearing compression stockings is recommended for 7 days.
- Wear your compression stockings every day during the day.
- Put on your stockings as soon as possible in the morning. They will be easier to put on and more comfortable to wear throughout the day.
Keep your feet warm. This will promote good circulation.
Dressing (Diachylons)
- If there are any dressings, they can be removed one hour after the procedure.
Exercise
- Take a 15-minute walk after the treatment. Stay active in the hours and days following.
- Walk as much as possible.
- Take the stairs.
- Make sure to get up and stretch, walk, or move your feet for 5 minutes every hour.
- Do cycling movements with your feet while lying on your back.
- Take a few steps regularly on the balls of your feet to work your calves.
Massage
- Massage from bottom to top.
- Use appropriate ointments, gels, or creams.
Air Travel
- It’s best to avoid air travel within 2 weeks following a treatment. If you must fly during this time, make sure to wear compression stockings, move around, and if possible, get up and walk during the flight.
Sitting Position
- When sitting, you can elevate your legs on a stool.
